Where did we come from?
The Computer Professor concept started when it became evident that many customers were not entirely happy with the service they were receiving from their current supplier.
There are several different reasons why this was occurring, you can see some examples below.
- Excessive cost
- Issues not correctly identified by technician
- Issues not being resolved
- Technicians turning up late or not at all
- Technicians not explaining actions taken
Because of this it was decided that what was needed, was a new approach.
Business and home networks are configured and used in vastly different ways, so why try and treat these different types of customers in the same way? Sure, it's all based around computers but that's roughly where the similarity ends.
For example, in most cases a business manager doesn't want to know how to fix their issue; they just want the computer/network to be up and running again as quickly as possible. They would then want to know how and why the issue occurred and the steps needed to prevent it happening again. In contrast to this, a home user may want to know what is being done, why it happened and even how to fix it themselves in the future.
As a business or home user, most 'Computer Technicians' will simply tell you that it is too complicated to try and explain what they are doing, sometimes this is true, however in a lot of cases the techniques used can be explained quickly and easily to allow you to fix things yourself in the future, saving you money!
